The Power of Thoughts and Imagination

To be successful in the promises of God you must control your thoughts just like you must control your words. Your thoughts lead to imagination. Your imagination is a powerful force, a force that can be used for you, or against you. Your imagination makes contact with the spiritual realm. What you feed into your heart in abundance is what the spiritual realm is programmed to produce. What you imagine gets fed into your heart, just like what you hear and speak gets fed into your heart. If a thought comes to your mind that is contrary to God’s will, that thought must be arrested and disposed of. Do not dwell on that thought, do not start to imagine a life situation based on that thought!

If a thought of suicide comes, do not imagine how to accomplish it! Immediately recognize that this thought is contrary to God’s will and refuse to think about it again. If a thought of adultery comes, do not imagine how to accomplish it! If a thought of death from cancer comes, do not imagine it! Cast out of your mind every thought or imagination that is contrary to God’s will, that is, the promises of God. If the thought comes again, you throw it away again. Your mind, the thinking process, must be renewed to operate according to God’s will.

2 Cor 10:5 KJV
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Rom 12:2 NIV
2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

The reason that controlling your thoughts and imagination is so important is because your imagination makes contact with the spiritual realm. The spiritual realm is very, very real! Your imagination operates in the spiritual realm just like your words operate in the spiritual realm. Your imagination is so powerful that just imagining adultery makes you guilty of it without doing anything in the physical realm.

Matt 5:28 NIV
28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

You can commit sin with your imagination and not even get up out of your chair. You can be guilty of physical adultery without lifting a finger – just by using a very powerful force called imagination. The thoughts that you allow your imagination to run with are the very thing that you will become.

Prov 23:7 KJV
7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.
