Did God put this
sickness or tragedy on me?
Many
people think that God uses sickness, pain and tragedies to
teach you something. Be sure to read the answer to the
question:
What Is God’s Will for Teaching Me?
Jesus states the source of attacks in John chapter 10.
John 10:10 KJV
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to
destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they
might have it more abundantly.
John 10:10 NIV
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have
come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
John 10:10 NLT
The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My
purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
John 10:10 AMP
10The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and
destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have
it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).
Jesus states that the thief (the devil) is the one killing,
stealing and destroying. Therefore killing, stealing and
destroying are works of the devil. Jesus compares these
works of the devil with his own will for mankind which is:
have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full,
till it overflows).
We see here in 1 John that Jesus came to destroy the works
of the devil (stealing, killing and destroying).
1 John 3:8 NLT
But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil.
Did Jesus come to destroy the works of God? Jesus came
against sickness, disease, demons, sin, etc. That means that
sickness, disease, demons, sin, etc. are works of the devil
– not works of God. Jesus did not come to destroy the works
of God, this would be impossible because Jesus and God’s
will are the same.
Jesus healed all that were oppressed of the devil.
Acts 10:38 (KJV)
How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and
with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that
were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
How did Jesus heal them? Because God was with him! Jesus
stopped sickness and disease because God was with him. If
the sickness and disease were coming from God then Jesus
would be fighting against the works of God and that’s
impossible because Jesus and God’s will are the same. Jesus
came to fight against the works of the devil – not the works
of God.
Because many people believe that everything that happens to
them is God’s will they end up blaming God for works of the
devil. This is one of the biggest deceptions in the church
today. If Satan can deceive people into thinking that his
works of stealing, killing and destroying are coming from
God, then people will believe that it is God’s will for them
to be sick or diseased and they won’t be able to pray in
faith because they are not absolutely assured that it is
God’s will to heal them. They will think it is God
inflicting them instead of the devil and they will never
consider to resist the devil:
James 4:7 NIV
7Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he
will flee from you.
1 Peter 5:8 NIV
Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls
around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
9Resist him, standing firm in the faith…
Have you resisted the devil lately? Instead of assuming that
sickness and disease are from God, we need to recognize the
works of the enemy and change our circumstance with one of
the very great and precious promises. Those promises are
what define God’s will.
Think about it, if we truly believe that the sickness and
disease are coming from God, why do we go to the doctor to
try and get rid of them? Do we really think that a doctor is
more powerful than God?
There seems to be a basic teaching that’s been lost over the
years, and it is: God is good, devil is bad.
